As I walked through the city the other day, I noticed just how many women on their way to work wear head-to-toe black and it made me quite sad. You see, given the choice I will usually choose colour over black any day of the week. That’s not to say I don’t like black. On the contrary, there are days when I love it. It’s slimming, and usually comfortable. And I totally understand that there are occasions where black is 100% necessary. But, walking through the city, I couldn’t help but wonder how many of these women were wearing black (and usually some form of suit) because they feel like they have no other option.
So I’ve made it my mission to show you lovely ladies of Australia, and the world, how to be professional yet not compromising your sense of self and personality in the process.
When I first saw these pants by Portmans, I fell instantly in love. The navy background ensures they are grounded in a neutral colour, without being black, whilst the print is fun and who doesn’t love a bit of floral in their life?
To keep them work appropriate, I have styled them with this silk wrap front top from Forever New, taupe flats with a hint of snakeskin by Verali at Stylethread, and this beautiful rose gold necklace from Blush and Co. This low chignon hairstyle from Kate at The Small Things keeps it fresh and will last all day without you needing to resort to that top knot/ballerina bun.
How do you feel about black? Do you wear it every day or would you rather wear colour? Let me know!
