Real Homes: Old School New Farm

Happy Monday Friends! How was your weekend? Did the sun shine where you are? If you’ve been reading this little blog for a while, you’ll now that we moved apartments back in early July. And it occured to me last week that I still haven’t shown you guys around! How unwelcoming of me! So come on in, the fridge always has bubbles, the tea canister is always full and have a nosey around!

One of the things that first made me fall in love with this place was the kitchen. Whilst it’s not huge, it certainly has enough counter tops and storage for me – plus I have a full length pantry cupboard which I’ve never had until now. Those that know me will know that I love cooking and having a kitchen where I can make mess and enjoy a glass of bubbles is really important to me! And yes, I do use those cookbooks – though probably nowhere near as much I should or used to!

When we started looking to move way back in late February, trying to find somewhere that was big enough for our sofa was a real issue. We even thought about selling it at one point but I’m so glad we didn’t. We bought this sofa with the intention that it will one day go in the family room/snug of our family home and I’m so happy we found a place we love that fits it! The table has also had it’s own trials. It used to live outside but it was never used, so we were looking for somewhere it could fit inside. Now it’s our dining room table and doubles as LB HQ!

This bookcase is from Kmart. And I’ll admit I don’t love it. Both our house in the UK and our old apartment had built in shelving so we bought this one when we moved here. I would love to find a taller solid wooden version that I could paint – any ideas?!

I’ll be honest, our second bedroom doesn’t look like much. It needs bedside tables and a lamp, and some cushions for the bed too. I’d love to make this a haven for our guests with greys, blush pink and whites.

Our Master is also pretty darn bare! It needs cushions (I’m thinking blues, greens and nudes), a tallboy so I can finally stop using boxes to store clothes (!), at least 1 lamp, and I’m thinking some more artwork or a mirror for above the tallboy (which will go on that empty wall you can see in the top left picture). We bought these bedsides from Kmart – they’re actually garden stools! Whilst they’re great for now, I think (in time) we might put them in the second bedroom and get some bigger ones for in here. For now though, it’s great not to nearly fall about of bed when putting my book and glasses down before bed!

Our balcony faces east so we get sunrise through these doors every morning – which I love – and in summer it’ll be shaded in the afternoon making it the perfect spot for happy hour! We definitely need some form of seating out here though – a bench perhaps? If you’ve any ideas, we’d love to hear them!

So that’s it friends! We hope you enjoyed looking around our little home. We love the light, the high ceiling, the parquet flooring – and being back in New Farm!

If you’d like to be a part of the LB Family and give us a look inside your home, please email or get in contact via our social media channels – we’d love to hear from you!
